Joseph Sakowski

Joseph Sakowski is a native of Elma, NY, and graduate of Colgate University (1972), and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law (1975).

Joe is a former Assistant District Attorney, Confidential Law Clerk to the State Supreme Court, and continuously served the Town of Elma as Town Justice for forty (40) years from 1980 - 2019 where he presided over thousands cases and hundreds of trials. In 2006, his judicial experience, qualifications, and reputation prompted the Chief Administrative Justice of the Eighth Judicial District to appoint him as interim Cheektowaga Town Judge.

In his private practice, Joe concentrates his focus on helping clients who suffered personal injuries, estate planning, probate, real estate, matrimonial, and civil litigation. He maintains an active membership with the Bar Association of Erie County, and participates in various judicial and elder law seminars to stay abreast of the ever-changing ebb and flow of the law.

Born and raised in the town where he practices law, Joe maintains a visible presence in the community as member of Elma ITAC Drug and Alcohol Task Force, as a member and former President of the Elma Kiwanis Club, and past Master of the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge. He also formerly served on the Board of the Elma Marilla Wales Boys and Girls Club, was a Little League Coach when raising his children in Elma.
